From Drum to Spray Gun: The Complete Cosmostar Equipment Setup at Ruiju Technology

Project: 2K Material Spray Application, Ruiju Technology

Getting a two-component material from storage drum to spray gun involves more steps than most people realize. Each stage, from mixing to transfer to pumping to application, requires its own equipment, and each piece has to work in sequence for the process to run smoothly. When any part of that chain is mismatched or inconsistent, the quality of the final application is affected.

This is a look at the complete Cosmostar equipment setup used at Ruiju Technology, where a two-component material was mixed, transferred, pumped, and sprayed using a purpose-built system from start to finish.

The Process: Four Stages, Four Pieces of Equipment

The application process at Ruiju Technology followed a clear sequence. Material A and Material B were handled separately through the mixing and transfer stages before coming together inside the plural component pump and being delivered to the spray gun as a combined, properly proportioned fluid.

Stage 1: Mixing with the AM0707 Manual Stand Agitator

Before any material enters the spray system, it needs to be thoroughly mixed. Both Material A and Material B were mixed separately using the Cosmostar AM0707 Manual Stand Agitator.

The AM0707 mounts directly onto the drum and uses a pneumatic motor to keep the material in continuous motion. For two-component applications, this stage is important because each component needs to be homogeneous before it enters the transfer and pumping system. Any settling or inconsistency in the drum at this point carries through the rest of the process.

Stage 2: Transfer with the P0204 Transfer Pump

Once each material was properly mixed, the Cosmostar P0204 Transfer Pump moved it from the drum to the plural component pump. The P0204 is a high-pressure pneumatic transfer pump designed for moving material efficiently through the fluid line without pressure fluctuations that would affect the downstream process.

At Ruiju Technology, the AM0707 and P0204 were used together as an integrated mixing and transfer unit, with the agitator keeping the material consistent in the drum while the transfer pump continuously moved it toward the SD100-X30.

Stage 3: Plural Component Pumping with the SD100-X30

Cosmostar SD100-X30 30:1 Plural Component Pump received Material A and Material B from the transfer pumps and delivered them through the system to the spray gun at a controlled 1:1 mix ratio.

Cosmostar SD100-X30 uses two positive displacement pumps, one for each component, to meter the materials accurately and maintain the mix ratio consistently throughout the application. With a maximum fluid working pressure suited for high-viscosity and high-solid content materials, the SD100-X30 is designed to handle the demands of plural component applications where pot life is short and consistency is critical.

The gravity feed design of the SD100 series means that in some configurations, the need for additional feed pumps can be eliminated, though in the Ruiju Technology setup the P0204 transfer pumps were used to maintain continuous material supply from the drums.

Stage 4: Application with the Spray Gun

From the SD100-X30, the mixed material was delivered through the fluid hose to the spray gun. The operator applied the material to the surface in controlled passes, working across the area systematically to achieve even coverage.

Spray pattern delivered consistent material distribution across the surface, with the SD100-X30 maintaining stable output pressure throughout the application so the operator could focus on coverage rather than managing equipment behavior.

Result

Four-stage setup, AM0707 for mixing, P0204 for transfer, SD100-X30 for plural component pumping, and spray gun for application, worked as an integrated process from the first drum to the finished surface. Each piece of equipment handled its stage of the process, allowing the material to move from storage to application without interruption or inconsistency.

Equipment Summary

Cosmostar AM0707 Manual Stand Agitator: Pneumatic agitator for 55-gallon drums. Keeps material homogeneous before and during the transfer process. Used for both Material A and Material B separately.

Cosmostar P0204 Transfer Pump: High-pressure pneumatic transfer pump. Moves mixed material from drum to the plural component pump continuously throughout the application.

Cosmostar SD100-X30 30:1 Plural Component Pump: 1:1 mix ratio. Designed for high-viscosity, high-solid content two-component materials with short pot lives. Two positive displacement pumps for accurate and consistent component metering. Gravity feed design with optional fluid heater and flush pump capability.
